Metricheck is a tool for checking for endometritis in dairy cows. It consists of a removable rubber cup on the end of a 50cm-long stainless steel probe. The cup is inserted into the vagina of the cow where it is drawn back along the floor of the vagina. The cup collects a sample of mucus on its way out. The mucus is then easily checked, visually or biologically, for evidence of infection. Used in this way infections can be detected and treated promptly to reduce the number of failed inseminations. The kit includes the complete Metricheck probe plus two spare cups. Extra cups are available separately in packs of five (215257).
